Own Brands Manager Hair Essentials

Functieomschrijving

The Own Brands Development Manager HAIR ESSENTIALS is responsible for building and supporting the brand(s) he/she manages with the optimum product development and marketing mix in order to increase sales, market share and POS Margin – respecting the global strategy of the company, as well as its Vision & Mission.

  • Market analysis: Identify and analyze main competitors (positioning, USP’s & claims, assortment, new launches, prices, promotions, sales & distribution channels) and benchmark their products versus the Own Brands assortment. Identify gaps and needs in the market and define opportunities to develop products within the Own Brands portfolio. Follow market trends (through trade press, trade fairs, trend forums, market industry information).
  • Product Development: Write detailed briefing as a base for new product development: technical specifications, required product benefits, packaging needs, target price, target margin and target launch date. Estimate sales, as well as POS margins - and submit the briefing for approval to the Group Director Own Brands Development Manager and the Own Brands Project Committee.
    If Far East Sourcing is required, brief Sinelco’s Global Sourcing department to find the most suitable supplier. If no Far East Sourcing is required, find the most suitable supplier within Europe. Discuss on terms and conditions with the supplier: negotiate pricing, payment terms, % no claim, lead times, MOQ’s…. Coordinate and follow-up the new product development before and after launch. Organize and follow-up product testing together with the Testing Coordinator. Make sure all legal requirements are respected, together with the Regulatory Department – and trademarks are registered with the Legal Department. Define an accurate retroplanning for the launch and respect agreed deadlines. Brief the communication agency or internal graphic designer on packaging design needs.
  • Launch Communication: Gather all information about the product needed for logistical and going-to-market needs. Communicate internally all product specifications including product details, benefits and USP’s, sales arguments, price positioning, application details, professional advice, packshots, benchmark details…
  • Complaints handling: Gather all relevant information in case of reported claims, by contacting the responsible Sales Representative or end customer. If it concerns a major complaint, investigate more in detail by a physical check of returned goods. Immediately report the complaint to the supplier, specify corrective actions, negotiate about compensation, take measurements to improve product quality and eventually write new quality criteria. In case of minor complaints, suggest a % discount on the invoice value as a commercial approach. Report back on all claims to the Sales Representative, and keep track of the complaints received.
  • Presentation: Prepare and give presentations for internal public at the occasion of International Sales & Marketing Meetings.
    Budget Management: Estimate yearly development budget need for Own Brands Development Hair essentials. Suggest optimum investments in marketing mix to best support the brand(s) and increase market share. Keep detailed track of expenses and give monthly status on development budget spending versus plan.
  • Brand/Product support: Be available to answer internal and customer questions about the brand(s) and the products, with assistance of the Training Coordinator.
    Monitor results: Analyze sales results for the brand(s) in terms of units sold, sales volume achieved, market share and POS margin (versus plan & previous years - per product segment/SKU). Recommend future action plan and strategy for further brand development based on these results.
  • Stock Analysis: Manage stock with great care when planning a relaunch, in order to minimize leftovers and obsolescence or destruction costs.
    Promotional creativity: Work closely with the Marketing department. Think ‘out-of-the box’ and give promotional ideas to support the brand/product launch, maximize sales and increase market share – in a profitable way.

Profiel

  • You have a Master’s degree (or equal through experience) and minimum 5 years of relevant marketing experience in a branded environment as Product or Category Manager.
  • You have proven track record in project management and product development in an international environment.
  • You have affinity with cosmetic products and are able to generate creative ideas.
  • You are a team player and fluent in both written and spoken English, Dutch and French.
  • You can manage stress and prioritize well. You are willing to travel if needed.
