Engineering Manager

Offshore Wind, located in Hoboken, is looking for an experienced (m/f) Engineering Manager. ENGIE Fabricom is a major player in the growing European Offshore Wind Sector. Constantly seeking innovative solutions, we developed the multidisciplinary concept of the Offshore High-Voltage Substation (OHVS) to optimize exporting power generated by a wind farm. Our capacity to take an OHVS project from the initial feed studies through to operation and maintenance and to deliver on-time has greatly contributed to an increasing number of wind farm investors calling on our involvement.

Your mission
  • in the context of the Offshore Services division strategy and within the set framework, as an Engineering Manager you will plan, organize, lead, coordinate and control:
    • Design & Engineering activities during the tendering phase
    • Design & Engineering activities for EPCI and Monitoring & Maintenance projects
    • Engineering Resources development and management according to the needs and the strategy
  • in order to achieve excellence in Construction and Monitoring and Maintenance activities for OHVS installations
  • you will in close coordination and report to the Head of Engineering
  • you will be responsible for the daily management of a multi-disciplinary Engineering and Design team, to:  
    • define the integrated concept designs, secure an high level quality of the deliverables of the Engineering and Design team, i.e. outline specifications, technical  specifications for systems and equipment, functional specifications, etc. during tendering & execution phase of the projects together with partners where appropriate
    • accountable for the correct implementation of Client’s and statutory requirements in appropriate technical documents (Request For Proposal – Technical part) to be used by the procurement team to obtain “best in class” conditions (at bidding phase and execution phase)
    • organize, lead, coordinate & control a multi-disciplinary centralized engineering pool around key discipline engineers for the LV & Auxiliary scope (mechanical & electrical lead engineers) , Automation, 3D design, Transport & Installation
    • accountable for the estimate of Engineering & Design efforts requested for a timely delivery of Engineering & Design  deliverables (both during tendering and execution phase of the projects) according to customers’ expectations
    • define & designate the engineering teams during the tendering and execution phases of the allocated projects and monitor quality, assess input from own engineering teams, partners, suppliers and subcontractors
    • incorporate appropriate Maintenance Engineering in the designs and provide support to the in house Monitoring & Maintenance department
    • secure project objectives for the Fabricom scope through installing efficiency by developing, implementing integrated (engineering) tools, systems, working methods and processes and monitoring their correct use, all this in collaboration with the procurement and construction functions
    • provide support towards Construction & Commissioning: Definition of procedures, tools & systems to organize the works for the construction of the products to be delivered (resources, tools, quality, H&S,…) – improve efficiency thanks to lessons learned (“learning team”)


  • you have a university level degree, Master of Science in Engineering
  • you have excellent knowledge and minimum 10 years of experience in engineering, procurement & construction activities related to Offshore High Voltage Substations
  • you are a team player with strong leadership capabilities and experience in managing a multi-disciplinary engineering team in an international context
  • you are able to manage good relationships with the client, internal stakeholders (i.e. the product line departments and other competence centers, our partners), while monitoring ENGIE Fabricom’s interests
  • communication skills: English & Dutch. Knowledge of French and/or German is an added value
