Technical Officer – Certification Schemes
Location: Brussels, Belgium (some travel required)
Our client is a leading association of European Testing, Inspection, and Certification organizations, active in the safety testing of electrical products. Their member organizations are based across Europe, with testing laboratories and subsidiaries in other regions worldwide.
They are currently expanding their team and are looking for two Technical Officers to support the administration and day-to-day operations of one of the certification schemes managed by the association.
Main Responsibilities
1. Secretary for a Certification Scheme
Each Technical Officer will be responsible for one of the following areas:
A. Energy performance criteria of products such as insulation materials, heat pumps, or solar heating devices
or
B. Safety of electrical devices (50–1000 Volt DC) and interoperability between different devices
Key tasks include:
Acting as the main point of contact for the scheme
Distributing regular communications to members, working groups, and committees
Participating in relevant meetings
Collecting and analysing data from members, including quality indicators and market developments
Preparing biannual management reports for the certification scheme
Coordinating developments and facilitating collaboration between scheme groups
2. Shared Responsibilities – Assessments
Performing regular assessments of product Certification Bodies across Europe
Verifying the application of scheme-specific rules in line with EN ISO/IEC 17000 series standards and relevant CENELEC product standards
3. Operational Documents Management
Maintaining operational system documents
Coordinating the development of documentation
4. Other Responsibilities
Supporting the Secretary General as needed
Requirements
Relevant technical or scientific background
Strong organizational and communication skills
Willingness to travel within Europe
Experience in certification, testing, or standardization is an advantage
Experience in performing assessments of product certification bodies
Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work autonomously
Team-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multicultural environment
Ability to deliver precise, timely results while maintaining attention to detail
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; good overall IT skills
Valid work permit for Belgium
Languages & Personal Skills
Perfect command of written and spoken English (working language of the association)
Discretion and diplomacy
Additional assets:
· Experience working with EU or international associations
· Experience in Quality Management System development
· Experience in product certification management
