Regional Sales Manager

Job description

As Regional Sales Manager you will be responsible for the achievement of our Unit Dose Division's key commercial objectives by generating and supporting business for a wide range of European Contract Manufacturing clients and Northern European Retail clients.

You will lead a sales team for your area in the development, implementation, and execution of a robust, customer business plan aligned to the Unit Dose Divisional and regional strategy. You will focus primarily on improving profitability in a high share of available market environment whilst pursuing appropriate profitable business growth with our key partnership customers.

You will lead customer related sales initiatives across your area, providing strong and clear leadership to the sales team by creating an environment, which encourages ownership, responsibility, and team unity.

You will make a significant contribution to the formulation and delivery of the wider division strategy through a profound understanding of customers and categories thus continuously providing the business with market intelligence to support informed decision making.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Leading a team of 4 colleagues (based in Denmark).
  • Provide the strategic direction for the area sales team to fully meet the region agreed long term plans.
  • Lead the sales team to develop, articulate and deliver compelling tailored account business plans that are aligned to division strategy.
  • Delivery of budgeted customer Volume, Revenue and Gross Margin for the Financial Year for relevant Customer/s
  • Evaluate, on a monthly basis, result vs. budget turnover, volume turnover and profit targets. Prepare contingency strategies to bridge gaps and recover any shortfalls.
  • Be the acknowledged market and customer expert within the area.
  • Develop and sustain good working relationships with senior managers in our leading customers to represent the division in top-to-top relationships with customers.
  • Identify and deliver the resource/budget requirements for the function to ensure it fully meets the needs of the business unit's local strategy.
  • Develop talent, empower & mentor colleagues within the team to identify their training needs and provide the required support for personal development, in line with the regional strategy.
  • Influence the direction of customer facing continuous improvement programs across supply chain, development and technical.

Profile

  • You have a Masters degree (or equivalent by experience) and a minimum of 5 years' experience at a senior level in a commercial leadership role.
  • You have a first experience as people manager.
  • You are a skilled negotiator with considerable experience in handling complex and commercially sensitive negotiations with major international retailers.
  • You have a strong business acumen gained from active involvement with a variety of business functions within an FMCG environment.
  • You have excellent English skills, both written and spoken and with the ability to negotiate with customers in English. The knowledge of French and/or Dutch are a real asset in this role.
  • You are aware of latest strategic trends, and you are capable of taking a strategic prospective. You see the bigger picture, applying lateral thinking to identify a range of imaginative and innovative solutions.
  • You are numerate with strong analytical and problem-solving ability, and you have a hands-on approach, with a 'can-do' attitude.
  • You can influence at a senior level, both internally and externally and is able to effectively represent the business with a range of external contacts, conducting presentation confidently and assertively.
  • International travel is required (up to 25% of you time).
