Research Scientist Hit Validation

To strengthen our Chemical Biology team in Ghent, we’re looking for a motivated Research Scientist (PhD) with proven experience in hit validation.
As a Research Scientist at Orionis, you will play a key role in multiple small-molecule discovery projects, including both in-house initiatives and collaborative programs with external partners. Your primary focus will be on downstream hit validation using biochemical, biophysical, and functional assays. As part of the Chemical Biology team, your task will be to design, optimize, and troubleshoot these experiments, or interface with partners for validation efforts run externally.
Profiel
- A PhD in a relevant life sciences discipline.
- A minimum of 5 to 10 year’s relevant industry experience in hit validation and small molecule hit discovery campaigns.
- A proven (hands-on) experience in, and understanding of, designing, developing and troubleshooting protein-protein and small-molecule protein interaction assays.
- Proficient in a wide range of biochemical and/or biophysical assay technologies (e.g., HTRF, NanoBRET, Lumit, AlphaScreen, BLI, Biacore, etc.).
- Experience working with CRO’s on protein production, biophysical assays, and related activities is strongly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Other languages are a big plus.
