In this traineeship, you’ll gain a broad understanding of the wealth of financial data within KBC Group and how we use it to support our advice.
A clear, transparent view of our figures is not only important for our shareholders and management, but equally for our employees and customers. Only then can they make well-informed decisions.
That’s where you come in—working alongside colleagues in Belgium and the local finance teams in our international entities. You’ll also collaborate closely with other departments within KBC Group (e.g., Group (Credit) Risk, Group Reporting Services, …).
Traineeship Group Finance
Job description
- You’ll work in Brussels, Leuven, or Ghent. You’ll see your colleagues in action and immediately apply what you learn from them.
- You’ll rotate through three different departments within Group Finance over 12 months, gaining hands-on experience. After this traineeship, you’ll know where your interests and strengths lie. Then, together, we’ll find the ideal role for you within Group Finance.
In each department, you’ll start with a short training and work under the guidance of an experienced colleague:
- Competence Center IFRS: Learn how to translate IFRS accounting and valuation rules into concrete advice for various activities within KBC Group. You’ll also challenge IFRS reporting from different local KBC entities.
- Group Controlling: Discover how figures from multiple local KBC entities are consolidated into group results and how this leads to reporting for the ECB and the National Bank of Belgium.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Get an overview of internal reporting requirements. Based on available data, you’ll prepare management decisions and forecast how certain financial parameters will evolve.
- Capital Management: Learn the ins and outs of the capital requirements KBC Group must meet.
- Tax: Gain insight into tax principles and their application, both for KBC as an entity and for our customers.
- Sustainability Policy Advice: Explore how we shape sustainability reporting alongside financial reporting.
- Accounting Systems: Get a closer look at the accounting systems for KBC Bank and KBC Insurance and the interaction between business and IT.
To make it even more interesting, we’ll involve you in projects whenever possible.

• You’ll graduate in 2025/2026 with a Master’s degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
• You’re interested in the financial sector and eager to deepen your knowledge of finance, accounting, and/or tax.
• You communicate effectively in Dutch and English. You can persuade and inspire others. Explaining complex topics clearly and structured—even under tight deadlines—is no problem for you.
• You embrace new tasks and learning opportunities. You ask for help when needed and take a pragmatic approach.
• You’re comfortable collaborating remotely using digital tools, driven to achieve your goals, rethinking processes (including leveraging AI), and engaging others along the way.
