What are the components of CICS and how are they set up? Discover it in this one-day ABIS training!

During this course,

  • you'll learn to describe the functions and main components of CICS;
  • you learn how CICS interacts with terminals, application programs and access methods;
  • you will be able to describe the safety and integrity aspects of the system.

  • CICS overview:

    Why use CICS; the most important components and facilities and an overview of transaction processing in a CICS system.

  • Functions in CICS:

    Transaction processing in detail: terminal control • data manipulation • error treatment • resource management • interprogram communication • monitors • development tools.

  • Application programs:

    The use of CICS commands in application programs • written in classical programming languages; the loading and executing of programs; the communication between programs and database management systems.

  • CICS tables:

    RDO (Resource Definition Online); the different tables and how they are used to handle transactions, to rule the access to data and to control the use of application programs.

  • System management:

    Description of possible error situations • recovery and restart facilities • synchronisation and security

  • Distributed working:

    Description of CICS facilities as CICSPLEX • transaction routing • function shipping • distributed transactions • CICS and the internet • CICS and web services

Classroom instruction.
