How does Db2 work, and why? Discover it in this one-day ABIS training.

At the end of this course,

  • you will have a thorough insight into the different components of Db2: its usage, objects and procedures;
  • you will know and understand terms and terminology related to Db2;
  • you will have insight into the application possibilities of Db2: locate the product in an automated environment and know its influences on that environment;
  • you will be able to describe the available development tools and the peripheral products surrounding Db2.

  • Db2 as (relational) database management system:
    • characteristics and application • (dis)advantages • use on z/OS • use on Windows, Unix, or Linux • combined use
  • Db2 in a development environment:
    • strategy • available tools and peripheral products (IBM as well as non-IBM) • further developments • education • DRDA
  • Db2, internal structure:
    • the objects (database, table, view, index, tablespace, ...) and their interaction
    • the catalog as internal "dictionary"
    • SQL, to be used interactively in order to manipulate objects (DDL) and data (DML)
    • embedded SQL: method and characteristics
    • available utilities
    • the internal security and authorization mechanism
    • the issue of locking

Classroom instruction.

Delivered as a live, interactive training – available in-person or online, or in a hybrid format. Training can be implemented in English, Dutch, or French.

Some familiarity with relational database management systems (RDBMS) is required.
