Augmented Leadership: Blending EQ with AI

Organisations are accelerating AI adoption across analytics, workflows and decision support — but tools alone don't create trust, alignment or performance. Many managers either over-rely on automation or resist it, missing the human element that turns insight into action. 


You have to learn quickly how to interpret AI outputs responsibly, communicate trade-offs with empathy, and support teams through change. That means blending “head and heart”: analytical thinking with emotional intelligence, so people feel heard while decisions stay grounded in evidence. 


This programme closes that gap. Across a week-long blended experience, you will learn, practice and use AI literacy alongside EQ skills — supported by an AI assistant and a gamified simulation — so you can lead confidently in a digital workplace.

Pre-Programme:

Live Online (Day 1) 

  • Introduction – Why augmented leadership matters now; balancing AI and EQ. 
  • Foundations – Plain-English AI concepts for managers; strengths, limits and common pitfalls. 
  • EQ baseline – Quick self-assessment and goal setting for empathy, listening and influence. 
  • Responsible use – Ethics, risk and bias; simple guardrails and escalation paths. 
  • Tools check – Access to a chatbot/decision-support AI and collaboration workspace. 
  • Orientation to simulation – What to expect from the gamified challenge.. 

Self-Paced Online Prep (Day 2) 

  • Micro-learning – Short videos on AI fundamentals and EQ habits in digital contexts. 
  • Practice tasks – Use an AI assistant to summarise, compare options and draft messages. 
  • Reflection – Journal prompts on head-heart balance and stakeholder needs. 
  • Leader's augmented brief – Draft team principles and use-cases for AI in your workflow. 

Programme:

Module 1 (Face-to-Face, Day 1): Head + Heart in Decisions 

  • Frame decisions – Clarify the question, evidence needed and people affected. 
  • Interpret outputs – Read AI recommendations critically; test assumptions and edge cases. 
  • Communicate with empathy – Balance data with concerns, trade-offs and context. 
  • Ethical guardrails – Apply simple do/don't rules; know when to override the model. 
  • Role-plays – Handle tough conversations about AI-assisted decisions. 
  • Practice & feedback – Facilitator coaching and peer reviews. 

Module 2 (Face-to-Face, Day 2): Augmenting Teams & Workflows 

  • Rituals that work – Stand-ups, reviews and retros that integrate AI assistance. 
  • Team enablement – Training, access and lightweight dashboards to surface risks early. 
  • Policies & norms – Define acceptable use, data hygiene and escalation for anomalies. 
  • Coaching & motivation – Build psychological safety; reward learning and responsible use. 
  • Change playbook – Stakeholder mapping, comms cadence and “first 3 experiments.” 
  • Practice & feedback – Team exercises applying tools to your real scenarios. 

Module 3 (Face-to-Face, Day 3): Augmented Leadership Simulation 

  • Gamified challenge – Solve a business problem by combining EQ and AI insights. 
  • Use the assistant live – Analyse options, stress-test choices and craft messages. 
  • Presentation & Q&A – Team pitch with trade-offs and next steps, with discussion and feedback. 
  • Peer coaching & feedback – Structured rubric on Clarity (framing, logic flow, evidence ? recommendation), Ethics (bias checks, data privacy, responsible-use guardrails), and Impact (stakeholder alignment, feasibility, action readiness). 
  • Action commitments – Finalise a 30-day plan with measures of success.
