This position is located in Brussels, Belgium. Residency in Belgium is required.
- Represent the State of Illinois in Europe, primarily in the EU and the United Kingdom, with a focus on trade and investment.
- Develop and execute strategies to promote Illinois exports and attract FDI.
- Provide market intelligence, matchmaking, and support services to Illinois companies entering the European market.
- Identify and engage potential European investors interested in establishing or expanding operations in Illinois.
- Organize trade missions, investment seminars and networking events.
- Collaborate with U.S. and European government agencies, chambers of commerce and industry associations.
- Prepare regular reports and updates for the Illinois Office of Trade and Investment based in Chicago.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in marketing, international marketing, business and economics.
- Experience: Experience in project management, international business and marketing, public or business administration.
- Must be fluent (reading, writing and speaking) in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years’ experience working in international trade, foreign direct investment, economic development or a closely related field.
- Two years’ experience working directly with European business and government sectors.
- Two years’ experience negotiating trade and investment agreements.
Conditions of Employment
- Must have a valid passport and the ability to travel regionally and internationally.
- Must have the ability to work overtime.
- Must have the ability to work outside standard business hours for meetings with international team members and stakeholders.
