Communications & Events Officer

Description de la fonction

  • You organize and coordinate AVD communications and activities, from preparation and administration to implementation and follow-up.
  • You coordinate all content supplied by the valorisation teams and ensure it is publishable, engaging and consistent. You are able to clearly convey the potential of scientific results and inventions in a short text.  This includes content for social media (particularly LinkedIn), visuals, interviews, exhibition stands, flyers, banners, etc.
  • You ensure a strong combination of text and imagery, fully tailored to the relevant target audience (researchers, partners, companies, etc.).
  • You maintain smooth communication with internal and external partners and ensure everyone remains engaged.
  • You support the development and optimization of the web pages of the various AVD teams. You use analytics tools such as Google Analytics to map user behaviour and translate these insights into targeted improvements and a well-thought-out communication strategy.
  • You will work with the existing communication channels (website, social media, printed materials, intranet) and help to use them more effectively and consistently. You will closely monitor projects and step in flexibly whenever communication or organizational issues arise.
  • You will work closely with your team and with communication staff across the university — in a collegial, open and solution-oriented manner.
  • You ensure that all communication complies with the applicable guidelines, including those relating to privacy.
  • You provide input for the analysis and evaluation of policy based on your expertise in communication and event organization.
  • You support valorisation events and are occasionally available in the evenings or at weekends when necessary.
  • You are part of the communication working group of the RIVA Department, work closely with the Communications Manager of the valorisation team and actively contribute to the department’s communications, for example by drafting articles for the monthly newsletter.

Profil

You are a driven professional who enjoys taking on responsibility, spots opportunities and thrives on a mix of communication, content, planning and creativity.  You combine professionalism with a fresh perspective, have an interest in a wide range of scientific topics, and are keen to help build AVD’s profile.

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication or an equivalent qualification — or you have demonstrated through experience that you possess the same skills.
  • Thanks to your education or initial work experience, you have a solid grounding in online communication and social media, and you know how to plan, organise and create impact.
  • You have a smooth writing style and communicate clearly, articulately and purposefully in both Dutch and English.
  • You write fluently and persuasively, and know how to translate scientific results and discoveries into clear and engaging content for different target audiences, with an eye for their valorisation potential.
  • You can write compelling texts that are suited to the channel and the target audience.
  • You have an eye for matching the right image to the right message and a feel for what works on social media.  You are proficient in Microsoft 365, image editing software and the most common social media tools.
  • You enjoy optimising content
  • You have experience in setting up and maintaining online channels.
  • You work in a customer-focused, ethical and quality-driven manner, and you enjoy collaborating in an open, supportive environment.
  • You have strong organisational skills, can handle pressure and maintain an overview — even when multiple projects are running simultaneously.
  • You enjoy working independently, take ownership and are not afraid to take the initiative
  • You easily build lasting relationships with colleagues, researchers and partners.
  • You anticipate deadlines and planned actions and contribute proactively.
  • You enjoy being involved in events from time to time, and you are willing to be available occasionally in the evenings or at weekends to provide support.
  • An affinity with scientific and technological topics is an asset.

  • We offer you an employment contract of indefinite duration.
  • You will receive a gross monthly salary within the grade range 5.1-7.1 of the Administrative and Technical Staff pay scale.  Your starting grade depends on your relevant professional experience.
  • You will receive meal vouchers, eco cheques, internet connectivity allowance, group insurance, guaranteed income insurance and bicycle allowance or full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
  • You can work under a flexible working hours scheme.
  • You have 40 holidays and a week of collective closure between Christmas and New Year.
  • You work mostly on Campus Middelheim in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
