Mechanical Design Engineer
Job description
Main Responsibilities
- You will be part of the R&D Mechanical Design team and gain in-depth knowledge of Xeikon’s digital printing engines.
- You will contribute to the mechanical design of a new family of high-end, full-colour digital print engines, and follow up the production, quality and field issues of existing print engine models.
- You will collaborate closely with other R&D disciplines such as software, electronics, process technology and digital front-end.
- You will take full ownership of functional submodules, using your technical decision-making authority, including :
- Interpretation of specifications, 3D mechanical design from concept to prototype to production assemblies, Creation of manufacturing drawings using GD&T, Technical discussions with suppliers and subcontractors, Assembly and evaluation of prototypes and test setups, Release submodules for series production
- Additional skills in developing (software) tooling for quality inspection in the production department are an advantage.
- You report to the Technology Leader Electromechanical Design.
Profile
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in (electro)mechanical engineering or industrial design.
- You have 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design within an industrial or high-tech environment.
or a strong academic track record with relevant thesis/project experience. - You have solid knowledge of manufacturing techniques, such as machining, sheet metal, injection moulding, extrusion and 3D printing (in-house), including their capabilities and limitations.
- You have experience with 3D CAD software, preferably PTC Creo.
- You have a strong understanding of mechanical physics.
- You are a hands-on team player with good communication skills in Dutch and English.
- You are analytical, solution-oriented and able to work independently in a multidisciplinary R&D environment.
- You are comfortable in balancing innovation with industrial reliability at the correct component cost.
- You are eager to learn, resilient under pressure and motivated by technical challenges.
