Business Controller

etherna is looking for a motivated Business Controller to support the Finance department in different areas, focussing on the financial planning and management reporting. As the Business Controller, you will develop a deep understanding of the business of etherna both related to manufacturing services, research collaborations with major partners and our own research and development. You will analyse data from various data sources and use/build processes to analyse and communicate key outputs to the Head’s of department and Project leads. This role will significantly expand your commercial understanding of a cutting edge biotechnology company and the impact it is having on human health for the right candidate this should provide a material step forward in their career.
You will manage insights of financial performance of the business, on department and project level and report to the Finance Director. In addition, you will have exposure to the CFO and CEO and other members of the management team.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Business Controller’s duties shall include, but not be limited to:

The preparation, data collection and calculation of the quarterly forecast;

Monitoring, analyzing and interpreting financial results and business information;

Preparing monthly management reporting and analysis of financial figures in PowerBI;

Support in the preparation of audit and annual financial control;
-
Safeguarding the data model for internal financial reporting;
-
Further development of relevant financial and operational reporting;

Prepare financial presentations and reports for the relevant stakeholders (Project leaders, heads of department, management team, board meeting, banks, shareholders);

Support in monitoring both the short and long-term financial key aspects (cash planning,…) of the entity and its subsidiaries. This will include preparation of cash flow and payment information to support the company’s treasury activities;

Support in monitoring of the value creation of the different departments/projects by using financial indicators in financial models and by challenging their business plan while safeguarding uniformity in analyses and assumptions;

Support in the preparation of the periodical financial grant reports in collaboration with the project lead and teams;
-
Participate in ad hoc projects, including implementation of new ERP system.

Profil
Education:
You obtained a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and preferably a master’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field
Experience:
-
You have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role;

You have a good ability to understand complex businesses and projects. Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry is a plus but not essential;

You have knowledge of analytical and accounting concepts. Knowledge of IFRS norms is a plus;
-
You have experience financial grant reporting is a plus but not essential;
-
You have experience in investment analysis and financial modelling.
