This person will provide support to the business to ensure that logistics services are purchased as effectively and efficiently as possible to deliver sustainable cost competitive options for the business and to ensure that these operate to give the required service levels to meet the fast changing needs of the INEOS O&P North business.

Context and dimensions of the job
  • The Logistics Procurement team are responsible for the strategic procurement and contract management of transport, storage and logistics services across Ineos O&P North and for Marine export activities across several INEOS businesses.The Ineos O&P North activities involve movement of over 1.5 million MT of product annually with a spend of around 100€ M across multiple logistics modes.
  • Ineos O&P North main Business products are Polymers (Polyethylene/Polypropylene) and Olefins (Ethylene, Propylene, Butadiene etc).The focus of this job is primarily on the transport and storage associated with Polymers.
  • There are three key areas of activities for this role : Operational support, Contract management and Procurement.
  • A key requirement for this position is to manage multiple interfaces with 4 Manufacturing sites (Köln, Geel, Lillo and Bamble), Ineos O&P North Sales and Procurement divisions, and various Logistics Service Providers (e.g., freight forwarders, shipping lines, on-site and off-site service providers and transport companies).
 Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Anticipate and resolve service issues to ensure required export service levels.Coordinate problem solving.
  • Investigate export customer complaints, develop action plans to prevent re-occurrence, and once approval gained, implement actions plans with freight forwarders, shipping lines or other suppliers.
  • To contract manage a number of freight forwarders, shipping lines and other logistics suppliers in order to ensure that suppliers meet performance standards expected by business and as defined in their contracts.
  • To define the scope, assess, develop and implement procurement processes and performance / data management tools & technologies which can be used to ensure efficient and rigorous standards and to support data management and analysis in key areas.
  • To assist in the procurement of logistics services through tendering.Procurement tender activities to include tender set-up, data preparation, proposal analysis (both numerically on pricing proposals but also reviewing service and capabilities) and negotiation.
  • When required cover activities such as obtaining & negotiating rates for new lanes and customers and making recommendations on which supplier to use.
  • Maintain and coordinate price and service data for selected areas and provide this to relevant personnel within sales/business, supply chain and freight forwarders.
  • To act as cover for procurement managers when required.



Skills and knowledge required
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree education in business/supply chain/science, or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Significant understanding of supply chain (ideally marine export) and/or procurement preferred
Technical Skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Detailed and thorough approach to problem solving and data entry
  • Understanding of many of the systems used within supply chain and procurement e.g. SAP, tender tools, excel etc
  • Strong business sense – able to converse with business and with a keen focus on delivery & costs
  • Fluency in English essential.High level of communication skills both written and verbal

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to network and build strong relationships with both internal and external partners and teams
  • Strong communication (verbal and written), negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to work productively when under pressure and under tight time restraints and with a strong bias for action
