3D Designer | Substations

What if you could lead the design of high, medium, and low voltage substations?
In this role, your responsibilities include creating and developing 3D and 2D designs for various projects, collaborating on conceptual design phases, and ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
Within the High & Medium Voltage department, you work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams, focusing on the design aspects of high, medium, and low voltage systems. You manage the design process from the initial concept to final delivery, ensuring the integration and quality of all design elements. Moreover, you play a key role in standardizing and professionalizing the design office by developing templates, libraries, and knowledge bases to enhance efficiency and consistency in design practices.

Zoom on the job:
- design leadership:
- lead the conceptual and detailed design of high, medium, and low voltage substations, ensuring compliance with industry standards, specifications, and client requirements
- assume a hands on attitude by taking on some 3D design work which will allow to understand the skills needed, the difficulties involved and the pros or cons of the software in use
- design review process:
- establish and maintain a robust design review process that ensures all design work is critically evaluated under the four-eyes principle before submission, promoting accuracy and quality
- template and library development:
- define a strategic plan for developing design templates, libraries, and knowledge bases to standardize design processes, promote best practices, and enhance overall efficiency within the design office
- outsourced work coordination:
- when applicable, coordinate and review the work of external engineering service providers and suppliers, ensuring the timely and quality delivery of outsourced design scope
- quality assurance:
- implement quality assurance measures throughout the design process to minimize errors and enhance the reliability of design outputs
- innovation and continuous improvement:
- identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement within the design office, driving advancements that enhance design effectiveness and efficiency
- see opportunities for developing standards, improving efficiencies and defining the training needs
- compliance and documentation:
- ensure that all designs comply with relevant regulations, standards, and company policies, and maintain thorough documentation for all design activities
By fulfilling these responsibilities, you play a critical role in delivering high-quality designs for substations that meet the demands of our projects and clients, while also contributing to the continuous improvement of our design processes.
Profiel
Are we a match?
- university level degree: master of science in engineering (mechanical/electrical/electromechanical) or equivalent
- minimum 5 years of experience in design works related to engineering, procurement & construction activities preferably substations
- knowledge of and experience with 3D and 2D design software
- experience with any of the following software is considered an advantage: AutoCad (Autodesk), MicroStation (Bentley), ProStructures (Bentley)
- knowledge and experience of high and medium voltage substations or a strong interest and willingness to acquire this knowledge
- proficiency in English is mandatory; knowledge of French is strongly preferred and Dutch is a strong advantage
