The Department for Human Genetics has been spearheading genomic medicine and the genomics revolution and is well-recognized as a leading genetics and genomics hub in Europe and beyond. The clinical center for human genetics (CME, Centrum Menselijke Erfelijkheid) has over 10,000 patient contacts and over 50.000 diagnostic samples yearly, which makes the center one of the largest academic genetic diagnostic laboratories in Europe. Academic research programs focus on genomic medicine and are situated at the interface between clinical practice and strategic fundamental research in tight junction with the CME.
The lndustrial Research Fund (lOF) of KU Leuven forms a bridge between strategic basic research, technological innovations and industrial collaborations. Based on cooperations with KU Leuven research groups, the University Hospital and different stakeholders from industry and society, we aim to broaden our valorization portfolio, and to increase the transfer of knowledge to the market. We have a team of more than 30 experienced innovation managers involved in the development of practical and innovative technological solutions based on the expertise and infrastructure of the research groups within KU Leuven/UZ Leuven.
To successfully manage the innovation/exploitation and translation of Whole Genome Analyses to Health Genomics towards Genomic Medicine, the CME and KU Leuven Research & Development are recruiting a business developer in the field of Genomic Medicine.
