Syngenta Ghent Innovation Center is based in the Tech Lane Ghent Science Park (previously called Technologiepark) in Zwijnaarde/Ghent. Tech Lane Ghent Science Park is owned and managed by Ghent University, which ranked among the top 100 academic institutions worldwide. The Park currently hosts 10 university labs, 8 research institutes, 11 international corporate R&D centres and more than 60 high-tech growth enterprises, covering an integrated campus of 52 ha, housing more than 3,500 high-tech professionals.
Within this science hub, we focus on the development of RNA-based biocontrol solutions for crop protection. We are working with multi-disciplinary teams across different Syngenta sites located in many countries around the globe.

Description de la fonction

As a technical expert you will support the RNAi-platform in the area of molecular biology / microbiology and contribute your expertise to the projects that are currently running. 
The key elements of this role are:
  1. To support the RNAi-platform through designing the production of specific sequences.
  2. To perform molecular assays that characterize the active ingredient, double stranded RNA, both qualitatively and quantitatively.
  3. To provide microbiology and molecular biology expertise into other Syngenta projects as required.
  4. To work with multi-disciplinary teams to explore novel and optimize existing production methodologies for dsRNA.


We seek a strong, self-motivated candidate with a strong ability for problem solving combined with enthusiasm for innovation and scientific research. Strong sense of quality and attention to detail are crucial. Experience in the field of RNAi is a bonus but not essential.
Teamwork and good communication skills, fluent English as well as the ability to work in an interdisciplinary field of research are also required.
Applicants should have at least a master’s degree with knowledge and experience in molecular biology and microbiology. Skill and know-how of recently developed technologies and techniques and their applications in molecular biology are an advantage. Description of your technical expertise in the application will be an advantage, including details of recent cloning softwares and methods, RNA handling, etc…


This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team looking to develop the next generation technology for pest control. You will be working within a dynamic multi-disciplinary group focused on delivering the dsRNA technology, whilst benefiting from access to the breadth and depth of technical expertise within the Syngenta organization.
