We are looking for a (m/f): 


As Area Controlling Officer Northern Europe (NE) you will work in a versatile and multidisciplinary role. Your responsibilities will be divided between IT Controlling, being a real business partner, and Area Controlling where you will support the Area Controller NE in his missions. 

You will be based in Zaventem, Arval Belgium, and report directly to the Area Controller NE. 

Main Responsibilities IT Controlling 
IT Europe and Mediterranean region is centralised in the Netherlands. Our IT platform has 2.000 users in 15 Arval entities. To reinforce this dynamic and growing environment you will make the bridge between finance and IT team and have following tasks:
  • Act as first point of contact for all IT financial requests.
  • Work closely with, support & challenge the IT management to respond to the increased needs (business partnering)
  • Prepare budget, Medium Term Plan, forecast and monthly closing.
  • Collect, process, interpret and challenge all required data and information
  • Provide monthly management reports, internal as well as for Arval HQ. Analyse and communicate variances clearly
  • Responsible for internal IT costs - and timesheet database tool
  • Responsible for IT project follow-ups
  • Bring transparency in IT costs and increase the awareness within the IT department.
  • Set-up and/or optimise IT financial and business reports and processes

Area Controlling Northern Europe 
Northern Europe Area represents 10 Arval entities, where 1.200 employees manage 220.000 vehicles. In this domain, you will work closely with the Area Controller NE and your key tasks will include:
  • Deliver high quality and timely performance information to the regional management
  • Support Area Controller NE in his missions, projects and reporting tasks.
  • Assist in budget, Medium Term Plan, forecast and monthly closing of the holding entity
  • Create, improve and implement regional reports and processes
  • Take ownership of transfer pricing documents
  • Respond adequately on ad-hoc requests from regional management
  • Potentially support NE countries in their daily controlling tasks

Main Contacts 
A close collaboration, communication with the following people needs to be established:
  • IT Europe and Mediterranean management team '
  • Arval Corporate: IT Corporate Controlling and Group Management Control
  • NE & EM area finance team
  • Local country controllers, Finance Managers and CFO’s,
  • Auditors


  • Master degree (preferably in Finance/Economics) or similar
  • At least 2 years working experience
  • Experience in controlling and/or affinity with IT is a plus
  • Good Excel knowledge
  • Strong communication skills, oral & written, fluent in English and Dutch. Good knowledge of French. Ability to communicate with all levels of senior relationships

  • Very accurate, having an eye for detail but also know when a pragmatic approach is required
  • Flexible, able to shift immediately to changing priorities
  • Stress-resistant.
  • Good planning and organizational skills to meet strict deadlines
  • Initiative, a hands-on approach
  • High level of integrity, be able to deal with senior (confidential) information
  • Willingness to travel (20%), mainly to the Netherlands
