For a client located in the province of Hainaut specialised in the industrial sector, we are looking for a Site EHS Officer.


Task of the Site EHS Officer

·Support and implementation of the company EHS Policy and requirements,

·Support and implementation of EHS customer requirements.

· Provision of EHS documentation and support the health and safety manager on project.

·Provision and supporting the flow of communication within site activity and the project through regular meetings and reporting,

·Regular EHS construction site observation to verify compliance with the EHS requirements within the project handling,

·Provision the EHS Dashboard.

·Draw up the Project Safety Dossier and keep it updated.

·Identify hazardous operations and prepare assessments for all risks.

·Check that the contractors have drawn up their risk analyses and their EHS plans and have communicated them to their subcontractors.

·Check that the EHS plans of the contractors and the Certificates of Conformity of contractors and subcontractors (see in annexe) have been supplied to the company. Where, necessary request them.

·If necessary, adjust and update the EHS Plan according to the progress of the works and any changes occurring.

·Make detailed working methods (method statement / task risk analysis).

·Participate in planning and performance of activities initiated by the EHS dept. eg. Training, safety events, activities based on accident/incident trend analysis, risk assessments (work place ass. and processes) as well as implementing nessecary actions.

·Together with the contractors, coordinate the implementation of the general prevention and protection principles, as well as of the stipulations, which are important for protecting the employees and in a coherent manner the principles for hygiene, ergonomics and safety too.

·Evaluate and check the occupational qualifications and certificates of the employees with potential impact on EHS.

·Personally arrange or supervise the correct organization of the welcome toolbox meeting and the presence of their own members of personnel and the contractors' Site EHS Officers. The attendance lists must be recorded, signed and kept available in the Project Safety Dossier. Check the correct implementation of welcome toolbox meetings and individual toolbox meetings for all employees of all (sub)contractors. ·Communicate rules and regulations regarding EHS matters to employees.

·Personally arrange or supervise the organization of relevant toolbox meetings and the presence of their own members of personnel and of the contractors' Site EHS Officers. The attendance lists must be recorded, signed and kept available in the Project Safety Dossier.

·Supervise daily the application of the EHS guidelines by their own employees and inform the Project Manager in the event of infringements.

Job description

·Regularly observe the observance of the EHS guidelines by the employees of all (sub)contractors and inform the Project Manager and Site EHS Officer of the (sub)contractor concerned in writing about any infringements.

·Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics (monthly KPI)

·Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions

·Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures

·Ensure reporting of accidents and incidents in the production facilities and maintain the crisis management communication flow. Reporting of all incidents, hazardous situations, hazardous acts by their own employees and/or employees of the (sub)contractors to the Project Manager.

·Perform accident/incident investigation and root cause analysis and ensure follow up on corrective actions in coorporation.

·Ensure registration of accidents and incidents in EHS reporting tool. Ensure legislative reporting requirements to local authorities.

·Perform Safety visits and reports to be on a twice weekly basis for all contractors

·Explain specific EHS topics at site meetings.



- Vol-VCA

- (Inter)nationally valid recognized safety qualification (Conseiller en prevention level II, Coordinateur de sécurité, nebosh or equivalent)

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Deep knowledge of Belgium legal health, safety and environmental regulations for "Temporary or Mobile Construction Sites" (ToMCS).

- Knowledge of EHS international recognized standards e.g. OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001.

- Proven Experience (minimum 3 years) as EHS officer in similar international project environment

- Outstanding organizational and motivational skills

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics and interpersonal abilities

- Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety

- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics

- Problem solving and decision making abilities

- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices

- Bilingual French / English
