Job description

Your mission

  • corporate controlling: budget & MTP of cluster “Nuke support” (this cluster includes the centralized support services such as Engineering, Fleet Performance & Purchasing, Nuclear Decommissioning and Radioactive Waste)
    • preparation, challenging and follow up of budget and PAMT
    • preparation of periodical closing and reporting 
  • financial support in permanent discussions with NIRAS/ONDRAF 
  • responsible for financial aspects nuclear waste topics such as
    • challenging the financial aspects of Niras’ 5Y waste costing model, and the resulting waste tariff (as well in “exploitation” as in “dismantling”)
    • negotiating the financial aspects of the “principes directeurs” (periodical settlement of past waste production), and practical implementation thereof
    • valuation of the stock of waste on the sites, and the evolution thereof
    • following up and challenging of the periodical invoicing by Niras (by plant, cost nature,…)
    • assistance in the preparation of periodical meetings about budgets with Niras (VTC)
    • participate and challenge “comité d’audit FLT & FMT »
  • challenge NIRAS’ governance, and assist NIRAS in the implementation of best practice processes and procedures for budgeting and following up of actual
  • anticipating of the above in the nuclear PAMT, and management of actuals
  • conducting ad hoc financial analysis (eg review of provisions, impact of review of tariffs,...)
  • financial support in setting up the Dismantlement program
    • coordinating the translation of the current high level estimates of the dismantlement costs into a concrete PAMT (medium term), and short term “best estimates”
    • setting up of an appropriate masterdata structure allowing an efficient follow up of budgeted and actual costs, also taking into account the reporting required by external stakeholders.
    • preparing the reporting required by external stakeholders
    • periodical closing of accounts, including a critical analysis and challenge of actual costs, comparing them to budget
    • following up and challenging of dismantlement projects, proactive anticipating the evolution of the nuclear provision
    • re-invoicing of the provisioned costs to Synatom: identification of the provisioned cost, verification and challenge, and organization of the re-invoicing. Setting up of appropriate governance and processes regarding the use of the nuclear provisions
    • facilitate the making of strategical choices in the context of the dismantlement strategy: contributing to the definition of the strategical and financial priorities, and developing tools to evaluate different strategical options against those priorities
  • main interfaces
    • nuclear support departments
    • BU corporate finance department
    • business partners (such as NIRAS/ONDRAF)


  • you have a university degree or are equivalent by experience
  • you have minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Finance
  • you have knowledge of finance and accounting principles
  • you have knowledge of financial valuation principles, and affinity with financial transactions
  • you have the ability to work autonomously
  • you have the ability to create relationships with business partners
  • you have the ability to make accurate and relevant financial analysis, assessments and judgments
  • capability to summarize (synthetic mindset)
  • you are fluent in French or Dutch. Fluency in English is a plus
  • you are a team player
  • you have good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • you are pro-active, flexible and dynamic
  • you have profound knowledge of MS Excel. Knowledge of SAP and SMART is a plus
  • business understanding, good knowledge of the energy business
