Medior Project Manager

Job description

  • Has overall leadership and operational responsibility related to project
  • Represents the MPU in all interactions with different stakeholders 
  • Co-ordinates performance, cost, scope, schedule, quality and appropriate business measurements for the project and sub-projects, according to agreed guidelines
  • Organises tasks and activities performed by the project team, and/or which will be delegated within line and matrixed functions, while maintaining overall accountability for agreed outcomes
  • Identify and negotiate schedules, milestones, and resource requirements to meet project outcomes
  • Develop project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources
  • Ensure that scope and objectives of sub-projects are defined; direct and co-ordinate activities of project team to ensure project progress; establish work plan and staffing for project; and assign duties, responsibilities and scope of authority to project
  • Track, monitor, review, analyse, and report project progress
  • Communicate plans, status and issues to project board; co-ordinate and respond to requests for changes from original specifications.
  • Enlist appropriate levels of management as sponsors of change
  • Organize and drive the Steering Committee and tier meetings
  • Ensure that project team follows methodologies and tools consistent with GSK project management policy and procedures
  • Recognise, analyse, and solve problems and resolve project plan deviations as they are encountered
  • Complete a quality project on schedule and within funding parameters
  • Act as a coach, mentor and role model to programme teams to rapidly embed best practice programme management skills and ensure effective execution


  • College/University Degree with Technical, Science or Business degree with requisite experience
  • Experience in project management: Prior experience managing multiple implementation and/or change programmes with a track record of high achievement in this role 
  • Experience in pharmaceutical industry is highly recommended 
  • Experience in manufacturing or regulated environment
  • Experience in change management
  • Experience in single use System is preferred
  • Experience in process improvement & lean manufacturing
  • PMP/Prince 2 certification is preferred
  • Green Belt certification is preferred
  • Strong affinity with planning tools: MSP
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel (+ good command of Ms Office tools) 
  • Fluency in English and French
  • Knowledge of change manament models/principles (Prosci, McKinsey…)
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles (Six Sigma…)
