My client is a company located in the European centre in Brussels (Belgium). The company employs 84 people, has 43 members (countries, experts from various industries, etc) and is considered to be a business catalyst in European industries and consumers. It offers a highly intellectual environment driven by innovation and competitiveness.

Their mission is to foster the European economy in global trading, the welfare of European citizens and the environment.

Through their services they provide platforms for the development of European Standards and other technical specs. Since the continuous growth of the company they are looking for a project manager to strengthen the Market Perspectives & Innovation team.

Job description

  • Coordinating innovation and development opportunities including research, facilitating and defining standardization solutions driven by stakeholder needs and priorities.
  • Providing assistance, guidance and advice to Members and Partner Standardization Bodies.
  • Supporting the company to identify and implement ways to further integrate standardization with innovation and research including support to the members and technical work programme, integrating a foresight approach and partnering with innovation actors in order to exploit opportunities for European stakeholders to bring innovation to deployment in the market through standardization.
  • Devising and implementing ways to increase their relevance, visibility and participation in research and innovation programmes and industry-led innovation at European level and to support the members to do so at national level.
  • Building and maintaining a strong network of external contacts in the research and innovation fields with the view to secure a dynamic information flow supporting the above mentioned activities.
  • Attending and contributing to relevant seminars and conferences in order to inform about and promote the company’s activities.
  • Produce analysis, statistics, prepare briefing notes and make recommendations relevant for the company strategy for integrating standardization with research and innovation; organize stakeholder engagement events, workshops and study visits for governmental representatives, European and international organizations, etc.
  • Manage the innovation website pages content, social media platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter), databases and other visibility activities (brochures, press releases, etc.).


  • University degree with significant experience.
  • Understanding the functioning of the European regulatory framework and the surrounding context and the involved stakeholders.
  • Experience with identifying and assessing new developments applied to the relevant field of expertise (EU legal requirements, sectoral specific progress, …).
  • Pro-active and positive attitude, flexible and adaptable approach to problem solving.
  • Effective planning, organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadline.s
  • Ability to manage simultaneously multiple projects.
  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), other EU language is an asset
  • Ability to structure and present complex information in a simple way.
  • Excellent negotiation and networking skills.
  • Ability to work in multicultural environment/team and to respond to needs and expectations from divergent stakeholders .
  • Being familiar with standardization at regional and international level is an asset.
