Capital market transactions will be your focus in this role where you will have plenty of scope to work independently within KBC’s legal department, one of the largest in-house legal teams in Belgium. You will use your expertise to ensure that contractual and legal risks are properly covered. You will also contribute your thoughts on policy, structure and strategic matters to help improve our processes and how we work together.
As expert in capital market transactions, KBC offers a broad range of products:
- Equity Capital Market transactions (ECM) such as Initial Public Offerings (IPO), Rights Issues, Accelerated Bookbuild (ABO), take-over bids and public M&A; debt capital markets transactions (DCM) such as issuing commercial paper, private placements and public offerings of bonds including green bonds;
- KBC Group treasury transactions such as issuing AT1, T2, MREL senior debt, and covered bonds; structured note, warrants and other products.
You can count of on having many stimulating contacts with KBC’s internal commercial, legal and operational teams including senior management, as well as external contacts including KBC customers, legal firms and regulators.

Job description
- You will draft, revise and negotiate contracts and documents related to capital market transactions (ECM, DCM, treasury). This way, you will experience first-hand how the KBC Group operates in the various capital markets. You will be involved in transactions from the very start.
- You will actively monitor relevant developments in financial law and other legal domains which are relevant to the capital markets, at the Belgian and European levels. All this will help you further expand your expertise and contribution to shaping policy.
- You will advise the business on the impact of developments. You will help ensure that new laws and regulations are implemented within KBC and you will lobby on these matters.
- When developing new products, you will advise business stakeholders regarding the statutory framework.
- You will proactively seek out opportunities to streamline regulatory implementation and enhance collaboration with the deal team, including the strategic and technical implementation aspects.
- You will train and coach colleagues in your areas of expertise.
