Job description

The position includes the following tasks:

  • You organise activities in the field of (ocular) biomaterials and cell culture and are responsible for the preparation, follow-up and execution of administrative, logistical and/or technical processes that are part of the internal operations of the Antwerp Research Group for Ocular Science (ARGOS) of the Department of Translational Neurosciences:
    • Assisting in the development, execution and processing of experiments related to a dedicated project that includes the use of biomaterials to cure corneal diseases,
    • Planning and preparation of technical support of students, PhD students and third parties carrying out experiments

In your role, you take instructions and regulations into account with a view to achieving predefined objectives.


  • You have a professional Bachelor in biomedical laboratory technology, biochemistry or biotechnology or equivalent competences gained through prior work experience.
  • Experience in working with biomaterials for tissue-engineering is highly desired, but not crucial.
  • You are proficient in MS Office.
  • You are flexible and have a strong sense of responsibility.
  • You have good oral and written knowledge of Dutch and English.
  • You are willing to expand your competencies and knowledge.
  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
  • You have strong skills in planning and organisation.


  • We offer temporary contract for a period of 12 months (with the possibility of renewal).
  • You will receive a gross monthly salary within pay band 4.1-6.1 of the pay scales of the Administrative and Technical Staff. Your entry-level grade depends on your relevant professional experience.
  • You will receive meal vouchers, ecocheques, group insurance, an income protection insurance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
  • We offer flexible working hours.
  • You will have 40 days of annual leave and collective leave for 1 week when the university is closed, between Christmas and New Year.
  • You will do most of your work at Campus Drie Eiken in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
