equensWorldline is looking for an Operations & Applications Engineer to join the Operations & Support Service within our Operations IT team. We offer our new joiners, bachelors and masters, a motivating employment environment and a wide variety of projects and clients to work for.

Key responsibilities

The Operations & Support Service is providing high-quality technical assistance for the real-time payment authorization applications. We manage incidents and problems reporting through a central queue of tickets. The main goal of the Service is to guarantee the availability, the robustness and efficiency of the applications in our real-time production environment. We help to define the specific maintenance needed to be included in projects in order to keep our system powerful and upgraded. Besides, assistance is given to the development team for providing production data for test purposes. We participate in the Risk Based Testing approach and in project or change analysis to improve the operability of our system.

People seeking careers as Operations & Application Engineer within equensWoldline will be responsible for providing commitment to a production team through communication, inspiration and motivation as well as monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining all our products. Along with the primary responsibilities, the Operations & Application Engineer will be involved with the rest of the team members focusing online balancing, capacity management and making necessary design improvements to eliminate unplanned downtime due to technical problems in order to achieve a maximum of productivity.

Incident management requires analytical and solution driven skills. You work both independently and in a team environment. As a team player you share your knowledge with your team members.

You will demonstrate the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities. In the production environment you work organized, orderly, are flexible and you are willing to work outside the normal business hours on exceptional occasions. You are occasionally willing to work under high pressure and in these circumstances you stay calm and diplomatic in order to be as helpful as possible.

Operations & Application Engineers may be required, after practical training, to be on-call on a rotating basis throughout the year to provide a workaround to solve issues. This entry level engineering position gives you the experience and knowledge of our production authorization system.

The application support engineer will join an established team and will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Application support of online authorization processing applications and middleware applications
  • Pro-active Monitoring
  • Reporting
  • Standby functionality


  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology or equivalent by experience
  • Proven work experience in an equivalent role is a plus, but not needed
  • Knowledge in the payment or banking industry would be an additional asset
  • Fluent in English, knowledge of French or Dutch is a plus
  • Experience in scripting (shell, DOS,…) is a plus
  • Team-minded
  • Result driven
  • Assertiveness, flexible

    Knowledge of the following
  • Windows, Linux
  • Shell scripting (shell, DOS, TACL on HPNS)
  • SQL statements
  • Continuous development
