Job description

The Senior Product Manager is responsible for the successful planning, definition, introduction and on-going support of assigned portfolio of products. The Senior Product Manager will focus on the development and execution of the product strategy, develop the market and positioning, engage with key partner and opinion leader networks, and drive the commercial success of those products within their respective markets.
The Senior Product Manager will identify and develop new market opportunities, develop business cases for investment and drive the domestic product roadmap.
  1. Function: Sr Product Manager
 
  1. Reports to/ Chief Executive Officer
 
  1. Responsibilities:
  1. New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Life Cycle Management
  2. Define and update Product Management Strategy, including financial metrics
  3. Liaise with R&D on NPI and Product Roadmaps
  4. Liaise with Sales & Marketing on new market introductions
  5. Identify opportunities from the market
  6. Keep updated on scientific know-how and market trends
 
  1. Tasks:
  1. New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Life Cycle Management
    1. Develop and maintain product roadmaps using best practices including variety and timing of new product launches
    2. Provide guidance for product concept, development and realization functions with the intent to maximize revenue, profits, market coverage and other business-defined goals
    3. Provide input, as the voice of customer, through various stages of product definition, prototyping and development, working with cross-business stakeholders and providing clear direction to the product steering group.
    4. Manage core teams for product development projects
    5. Be a product expert and/or lead a team of product experts that will have thorough understanding of products in order to help manage customer complaints and customer inquiries
    6. Serve as the product champion, ensuring product performance meets expectations and explore ways for continuous improvement and market adoption.
    7. Gather and evaluate customer input, prepare and verify requirements including validation criteria, advise development teams, and promote and champion products internally and externally
    8. Lead the NPI process as defined in the QMS (Phase 0 Design Control)
    9. Applying lifecycle management principles to the product portfolio by:
      • Conducting ongoing Win/loss assessment
      • Performing analysis of actual margin of each product, driving actions as appropriate.
      • Managing product discontinuance strategies as appropriate
    10. Must be able to work cross functionally with other stakeholders in other departments, including regulatory and clinical affairs, R&D, operations, finance, sales and marketing.
    11. Maintain prioritized list of NPI projects and work closely with the PMO (Project Management Office) to ensure cross-functional support and resourcing according to the prioritization.
  2. Financial and reporting
    1. Assist in development of 5-year revenue targets and assumptions
    2. Work with management to develop annual Strategic Imperatives
    3. Analyze revenue on a monthly basis to determine trends and assess health of portfolio of products
    4. Analyze sales and revenue metrics to determine trends leading to revenue increases and declines. You should be able to justify projects, create business plans, forecast customer acceptance.
    5. Provide reporting inputs to monthly OSUR Executive Committee meetings, Quarterly earnings reports & OSUR’s CEO updates, as well as Novosanis’ quarterly Board of Director meetings.
  3. Marketing & Sales
    1. Work with Marketing to develop and maintain portfolio brand and ensure integrity of brand look, feel and messaging
    2. Ensure success of conferences by working with sales and marketing colleagues to develop conference experience
    3. Provide sales training on a quarterly basis regarding new product introductions, new messaging, and new segments
    4. Work with Sales team on key accounts as needed to ensure successful sale and ultimate customer satisfaction
    5. Perform/participate in market research activities such as focus groups, customer interviews, trade shows and professional meetings, next to identifying and quantifying product opportunities by assessing/determining:
      1. Total addressable market
      1. Competitive landscape and pricing implications
      2. Revenue and gross margin predictions.

Profile

  1. Diploma / Degree: MSc Bioengineering, Biomedical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent by experience; PhD and/or MBA is considered a plus.
 
  1. Essential know-how:
    1. Medical device sector
    2. Computer literate
    3. Product Life Cycle Management and New Product Introductions
    4. Languages
      1. English: excellent writing, reading and conversation
      2. Dutch: good writing, reading and conversation
      3. French: good writing, reading and conversation
      4. Spanish / German: good writing, reading and conversation is considered a plus
    5. MS Office Suite, MS Projects or alike
 
  1. Expertise
    1. 5+ years experience in product management, marketing, R&D or related function, preferably in the life sciences industry. Domain specific knowledge on diagnostics, self-collection devices and/or stabilization technologies is considered a plus
    2. Experience in preparing and presenting business cases to management
    3. Experience in product and life cycle management
