The HR Manager is based in Belgium in our plant in Oevel and reports to the Benelux HR Manager. Together with 1 direct report, he/she provides HR generalist support for up to 170 employees and interacts with the site Leadership team as their senior HR Business Partner.

The objective of the position is to provide people, organizational and cultural insights that enable management to make sound people and organizational decisions that drive accountability, sustainability and process efficiencies.
The HR manager is responsible for implementing and driving key HR processes and practices that are aligned with the business and for managing day-to-day HR matters. These include employee and industrial relations, C&B, recruitment, employee development. 
This position may also involve in HR projects at a country and regional level.

Essential job functions
  • Provide HR expertise and professional HR advice on employment matters to further maintain excellent employee relationships. Coach and engage managers to develop their people.
  • Manage and/or implement HR projects, such as policy reviews, labour law updates, pension plan changes, expatriate assignments. Coordinate annual salary planning process.
  • Engage in formal collective consultation / negotiation with unions (blue and white collars) and works council on e.g. changes to working practices; as well as challenging individual discussions.
  • Partner and work closely with plant leadership, Benelux HR Manager and HR partner peers to ensure effective resolution of emergent issues e.g., support employee relations, performance management counselling and corrective action, labour law compliance, etc.. Ensure leaders are appropriately briefed and consulted on issues pertaining to their teams.
  • Lead and coach the HR partner to deliver HR service to agreed standards.
  • Partner with talent development and client groups on learning and development processes, employee training needs, management development and coaching programs; and identify potential roles, rotations or assignments for current employees to maintain the health of the overall organization.
  • Build collaborative relationship with managers on talent acquisition and talent management efforts, including active participation to candidate assessments and new hires’ induction.
  • Coach and mentor line managers on organizational changes.
  • Manage communications on Oevel HR matters to internal and external stakeholders.



  • Relevant education degree, with minimum 10 years of experience as an HR professional.
  • At least 3 years of this experience as an HR team leader, preferably in an industrial environment.
  • Experience with managing industrial relations (Blue and White collars).
  • Knowledgeable of HR processes, programs, policies and systems and ability to communicate the same to employees and management.
  • Comfortable with and able to influence line managers; accept and deal effectively with ambiguity, uncertainty and manage local complexities.
  • You are known for your effective problem solving, engaging and influencing style and persuasive communication.

  • Dutch native speaking, good English and French.
  • MS office skills, familiarity with SAP HR preferred.
  • Agree to travel from time to time to other Lubrizol locations in Belgium.
