Our client is as an international manufacturing company in FMCG. In order to shape the transport vision and strategy of Europe, we are looking for a European Transport Manager for their office in Southern-West Flanders.

Job description

As a European Transport Manager, you will be responsible for the transport operations within Europe and you will ensure that the European transport network has an optimum level of efficiency and effectiveness.

On the one hand you will be responsible for leading the transport teams around the European network:

  • You will develop common processes and systems for planning and scheduling capability in order to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

  • You ensure targets are met, project plans are implemented and issues are addressed

On the other hand you will be accountable for the selection and management of the third party logistics partners for the European region:

  • You will negotiate rates, benchmark with the market and monitor the operational performance

  • You will develop annual budgets and forecast per site

  • You optimize the current structure by developing IT and process improvements, establishing an optimum geographic transport network, focusing on the effectiveness of allocation of volume, ensuring an accurate cost information structure, etc.

Profile

  • You have at least 8 years of experience in a European-wide transport network in collaboration with a 3PL for a manufacturer or within a retail environment

  • You have strong leadership skills, you can bring strategy and vision to the way of working and you are able to influence people

  • Throughout your experience you bring a broad understanding of retailer routes and markets, European Transport market trends and local European legislation relating to transport

  • You have experience in managing and monitoring 3PL service providers

  • You have strong English and German language skills

  • You are open to travel for this role

  • You are a strong, credible and confident communicator able to build strong relationships

  • You are decisive and able to move on to implement ideas
