Job description

  • Academic department: Business technology and operations BUTO-MOBI
  • Subject area: Supply Chain Management


  • Assist in the academic curriculum (teaching exercises and seminars, assisting students) for the courses Supply Chain Management, Operations Management and Logistics and Sustainable Mobility and Logistics.
  • Engage in scientific research in the domain of Supply Chain Management scientific research.
  • Collaborate on ongoing scientific research with the departmental research staff.
  • Publish in international top journals, through valorizing the own research expertise and/or the PhD thesis.
  • Be actively involved in acquiring new projects and following-up existing research projects, building on the expertise available in the department.
  • Supervision of bachelor and master theses

  • Holding a PhD in (Business) Economics, Civil engineering, or PhD related to Transportation and/or Supply Chain and logistics.
  • Research in the field of supply chain management: relevant scientific publications in national and international refereed journals and active participation in national and international scientific conferences.
  • Excellent knowledge of Dutch and English.
  • We also welcome experience with: policy- oriented research, the development and follow up of research projects, the supervision of researchers or a research team, the supervision of theses, teaching.

Both our campuses are set within green oases on the outskirts of the centre of the capital of Flanders, Belgium and Europe. This centre, with all its opportunities, is within your reach by public transport in under half an hour.

Depending on your experience and academic merits you will receive a salary on one of the pay scales laid down by the government. Hospitalisation cover and free use of public transport for travel to and from work are standard conditions of employment. If you would rather cycle to work, compensation is also available for that. Both campuses have extensive sporting facilities which are at your disposal and a nursery is within walking distance.
