Your responsibility is the leadership of a development team for new and improved products and its related manufacturing processes in the segment of closure components for the pharmaceutical industry mainly made from rubber-, aluminum- and plastic materials or from a combination of these materials.

Job description

  • Define and implement a strategy for future product roadmaps. Manage short- and longterm objectives and expectations for the department and the team 
  • Lead and execute the development of new products, prepare and obtain approval for project time schedules and ensure conformance to such plans and to the related budgets in implementation
  •  Assess current product status within West, perform a gap analysis and derive needs and opportunities for new, innovative designs. Ensure that robust manufacturing technologies are applicable for the manufacturing of newly developed products
  •  Research and implement innovative technologies and methodologies for use in design and testing of new products
  • Apply best practice pharma development concepts like Quality by Design (QbD), validation and risk based development
  • Initiate and maintain appropriate communication and collaboration with all global stakeholders
  • Ensure that product development projects activities and documentation are in accordance with market expectations
  • Communicate project status to e. g. upper management by reports and presentations on a routine basis or on demand within established deadline
  •  Participate in budgeting and business planning activities
  • Lead a team of engineers


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or another scientific area
  • Comprehensive knowledge about plastic or related manufacturing technologies is a bonus
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, preferably in pharma or related industries
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate well with people across different countries
  • Self-motivated, result- and solution-oriented personality
  • Business fluent in English
  • Willingness to travel, < 25 %
