Our client is a company located in the European centre in Brussels (Belgium). The company employs 80 people (highly intellectual environment) and has to be considered as a business catalyst in Europe for European industries and consumers and has 43 members (countries, experts from the industries, etc).

Through their services they provide platforms for the development of European Standards and other technical specs. Since the continuous growth of the company they are looking for a new colleague to strengthen its System Intelligence & Communication unit

This job is for a permanent contract in Brussels. (Belgian contract)

Job description

You will be part of the system Intelligence & Communication Unit. This Unit is the central point for providing processed information to the company"s customers based on exploitation of content and data available in the Management Centre and for the development, production and dissemination of corporate and promotional communication deliverables (brochures, images, logos, websites, publications) printed and/or online.

It is also the ‘public" face of the company via the Infodesk, by answering general queries from the public, media and members from around the world.

Finally, it supports the visibility of the company and of standardization achievements and deliverables

You will manage and coach a team of 5 people:

Your leadership responsibilities are:

  • Providing direction in particular by integrating event management, social media applications and written communication to reinforce the organisations' visibility;
  • Coaching team members - relating to performance, in order to ensure continual improvement of the service delivery; reviewing their status reports and addressing issues as appropriate; challenging them to develop ownership and leadership within their area of responsibilities
  • Liaising with internal and external partners to ensure an effective communication

Other main responsibilities

  • Feeding and ensuring the timely provision of business intelligence to the members and stakeholders through the exploitation of content and data available in the organisation
  • Defining and formulating the communication roadmap in support of the relevant strategic objectives, including yearly and medium term goals, and supervising its implementation
  • Managing all PR activities including company"s internal and external communication in order to increase the company visibility and to promote awareness of standardization work and achievements
  • Ensuring compliance of communication activities with all relevant legal regulations and organizational policies
  • Ensuring timely preparation of executive/policy speeches and other type of material for the General Management
  • Acting as media spokesperson for the company, and delegating to experts whenever required in order to ensure the delivery of a consistent message to the media and public


  • Master's Degree preferably in Communication or Journalism with relevant experience in a similar function is a must
  • Outstanding knowledge of English (oral and written skills)
  • Excellent writing, drafting and copy-editing communication skills
  • People management experience required: high adaptability, pro-active and positive attitude, flexible and adaptable approach to problem solving, excellent human relation skills, high emotional intelligence
  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Able to demonstrate mass- or cross-media experience
  • Accuracy, eye for details
  • Ability to structure and present complex information in a simple way
  • Excellent negotiation and networking skills
  • Ability to work in multicultural environment/team and to respond to needs and expectations from divergent stakeholders
  • Knowledge of current European Standardization system and its environment is an asset
  • Awareness of the current international and European situation.
  • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of MS Office Suite, including comprehensive knowledge of document presentation and Web skills.
