Domain Architect – Access Network

The Domain Architect – Access Network will ensure the consistency of the Architecture in a specific domain of development and provide orientation on radio & transmission access networks design evolution. He will contribute to the domain’s delivery by leading network deployment projects in line with Mobistar network development strategy. He will manage technical relations with radio & transmission service providers.
As a Domain Architect – Access Network you will have the responsibilities of:
-Access Network (radio & transmission) strategy & solution definition:
- Contribute to the medium and long term architecture planning in co-operation with the Enterprise Architects according to a given planning process (Masterplan) and taking into account radio coverage priorities defined by Geomarketing.
- Propose radio access designs and/or transmission access topologies
- Participate and/or lead within projects for the realisation of parts of the Domain Architecture and ensure delivery from Network “Build” partner.
- Continuously improve access network cost structure by selecting the best cost effective, time-to-market solution in relation with High bandwidth need growth.
- Manage interface between transmission service providers & Network build partner.
- Synchronize transmission solutions implementation with regular radio build and other specific deployment projects
- Participate to ad-hoc technical and/or budget mid and long term studies
-Access Network (radio & transmission) solutions deployment:
- Define deployment objectives to network “Build” partner for one or multiple deployment streams
- Participate and/or lead the roll-out of selected radio &/or transmission solution(s)
- Manage roll-out planning & budget with a focus on delivery.
- Report regularly on achievements & issues
- Operational follow-up (SLA, provisioning, TT, …) with the support of Network build partner.
Profiel
- Academic background: Industrial/Civil Engineer or Masters in Telecommunications and/or Informatics with at least 7 years of work experience in a TELCO environment.
- Deep knowledge of cellular engineering is a must
- Familiar with Network deployment environment & processes
- Familiar with the following technologies: GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, LTE, HSDPA, HSUPA, SDH, PDH, Ethernet, IP, IP/MPLS, DWDM, ADSL, SDSL, VDSL.
- Experience in Project Management.
- Analytical mind and have helicopter view.
- Ability to develop methods, procedures & commercial relations.
- Strong innovation skills in complex methods and techniques.
- Good communicator and ability to present recommendations to less technical people.
- Embracing fast changing environments.
- Good negotiation, presentation and listening skills.
- Diplomacy and persuasive.
- Ability to give targeted advice to others based on your expertise (exchanging ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policies and programs and/or jointly arrive at decisions, conclusions, solutions, or solve disputes).
- Bilingual French/English and/or Dutch /English is a must.
- Practical knowledge of MS Office.
