Boeing is hiring a European Labour Relations Leader for its operations in Europe. The European Labor Relations Leader will provide leadership and expertise in labor relations strategies, policies and processes to ensure a compliant and engaging labor relations environment for Boeing in Europe. This role is an excellent opportunity to develop a European industrial relations framework and requires strong experience with works councils and trade unions in the European region and experience having operated in one or more European countries. The European Labor Relations Leader will be a member of the EMEA Human Resources Leadership team and partner closely with the team. He/she will report hard line to the EMEA Human Resources Director and dotted line to Corporate Employee Relations Function based in the US. The successful candidate will be based in Brussels or Amsterdam.
Specifically, the European Labor Relations Leader will:
• Promote and re-enforce Enterprise Employee Relations Strategy as appropriate to national laws and customs. He/she will be accountable for the execution of enterprise processes covering collective bargaining, employee engagement and containment and the adaptation to the national legal and labor market requirements while maintaining compliance and alignment with the global Boeing process and strategies.
• Develop country specific plans and lead implementation effort at the national level. Monitor progress and track statistics on key metrics reporting status to Business and HR Leadership. Evaluate success and propose enhancements as appropriate.
• Monitor the legislative scene in Europe and the individual countries, evaluate impact to Boeing business in Europe and provides relevant advice to leadership and HR.
• Build and maintain the necessary relationships with internal and external suppliers and business partners in order to benchmark best practices and to ensure sharing across Boeing and its subsidiaries.
• Provide strategic advice and counsel to management, Human Resources and employees on a broad range of complex employee relations issues, anticipating issues and proactively identifying solutions.
• May act as lead negotiator in contract negotiations and be responsible for cross-functional coordination to support negotiations. Also should provide oversight in the administration of local labor contracts.
• Initiate and actively participate in the development and review of policies and processes in his/her functional area. Act as the primary point of contact with the functional global team in the US for policy, process alignment and change support.
• Ensure thorough understanding and application of the policy, process and the system by HR and leadership. Educate colleagues on Employee Relations' strategies, processes, and tools.
• Coordinate with the Corporate Function and Regional HR team the adaptation and deployment of Enterprise engagement initiatives and processes. Support the regional HR team in the development and implementation of any local work place assessment and engagement enhancement processes and tools.
• Close involvement with all business plans e.g., restructuring, new build, sourcing, etc., to identify and build into plan a resolution at early stage of employee relations issues.
• Assumes all other duties necessary to support the function.
Profil
• Good knowledge of HR policies and employment legislations within individual European countries and the European Union as they relate to labor relations.
• Team Player - demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously within deadlines;
• Excellent organization skills with ability to prioritise workload and work to tight deadlines.
• Pro-active, results oriented and able to work under pressure
• Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written - building and maintaining relationships with people at all levels of an organization, across a diverse range of backgrounds (functions, businesses, countries)
• Ability to travel within the region and globally
Basic Qualifications for Consideration: Do you have experience in setting-up and managing local national and European work councils?
Typical Education/Experience:
• University degree level or equivalent in law, economics or social sciences. - The successful candidate will have a proven track record of having led employee relations function in multi-national corporations preferably in rapid growth businesses within the European region.
